A Simple Goodbye

And so, I wave a goodbye

As the tears pour from my eyes

The tears you’ve never seen

So frequent

But you’re not looking

And so, I turn away

To face another day

Knowing you’re not caring

So complacent

But I’m not staying

Here, in this place where I know I’m unwanted

Here, in this shelter that’s broken and tattered

You built it

You destroyed it

And left me here

To face the storm alone
